Santa Caterina Valfurva a 1738 metri è la località più suggestiva del Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio. Santa Caterina Valfurva situated at 1,738 metres above sea level is the most suggestive area of the StelvioNational Park. A typical mountain town which is covered by a thick layer of snow during the winter, while the green of the woods and pasture lands form a natural frame for the glaciers of the higher mountain peaks during the summer. Valfurva is one of the five townlands of the “MagnificentLand”, that is to say the Upper Valtellina (‘Alta Valtellina’) of which Bormio and its famous thermal spas is the principal centre which lies just thirteen kilometres from Santa Caterina. In Santa Caterina one can arrive into the centre of the town wearing one’s skis, and those who love cross-country skiing can enjoy suggestive tracks passing through the centuries old cembran pine woods. In summer it is the ideal place for alternating peace and rest with walking, trekking and climbing among the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range due to its tranquil environment and its cool dry climate. |
